Will It Be Valiente Again?

The Gold Cup gets underway this weekend with Adolfo Cambiaso (10) looking for his fourth title in a row and his Valiente team looking for their third 26-goal title. Mathematically the five other teams in the chase only have a 16% chance of winning this second leg of the Triple Crown.

Sizing up the competition, the Colorado team comes from the same barn as Valiente with plenty of experience and horsepower. This is Tonkawa’s first attempt at the 26-goal level. With the combination of Mariano Aguerre (9) and Sapo Caset (10) Tonkawa should be a strong contender. Young Jared Zenni (5) is the highest rated patron in the tournament with his DRF team. They have racked up some impressive wins this season. The crosstown rival teams from Grand Champions have yet to make it to the finals of three IPC tournaments so far this season.

No matter how it adds up the powerful combination of former rivals, now teammates, Cambiaso and Facundo Pieres (10) puts their competitors at a major disadvantage. Suddenly a 16% chance of winning seems rather generous when your team has to face the two best players in the world wearing the Valiente blue.
